After graduating form art school, medical & scientific illustrator Maartje Kunen studies Master Scientific Illustration in Maastricht, The Netherlands. She makes clear graphical illustrations, plastic elaborate visuals and three-dimensional translations that may be animated. She see the medical scientific illustration as a translation of reality. Stripping this reality, focusing on the message of it, serves the communication of that information. The translation must fit the reality at any time. She aims to set down a clear, strong, open and accessible representation if reality to clarify complex information. Her credo is: less is more.
Maartje Kunen is a board member of the Association Européenne des Illustrateurs Médicaux et Scientifiques [AEIMS] since October 2007. web site maartje kunen
